Masked Booby, Easter Island, Chile

Masked Booby, Easter Island © Fantástico Sur ExpeditionsThe Kena or Masked Booby (Sula dactylatra) still nests on the islets (motus) south of Rano Kau, in the south-eastern tip of the island of Rapa Nui. The presence of this bird on the north coast gave rise to the name Anakena, meaning "cave of the Kena".
